Large Cast Iron Traders Bank of Canada. This is an old cast iron bank in the shape of the main building of the old Traders Bank of Canada at the corner of Colbourne & Yonge Street downtown Toronto. The bank was given away to top bank customers. The lock was held by the bank, so when the owner wanted to empty it, they had to go to the bank. The bank has an inside box with 4 compartments that matched up with the 4 slots for putting in coins. That inside compartment is still present and is incredibly rare with serial numbers and original wooden dividers. This bank is in nice condition. The inner coin box still there with the original dividers. Only 1500 of these banks were made. The actual maker is assumed to be a local from Toronto. When the program was abandoned, many of the banks were emptied and scrapped. This makes this old cast iron bank very rare. The bank measures 10-1/4″ wide by 8-1/2″ high by 5-1/4 deep. On the front, it shows The Traders Bank of Canada – Colborne St. On each side, it says Traders bank – Yonge St. On the back side it simply says Colborne St. On the top of the bank there is wording cast in saying Property of the Traders Bank of Canada – Registered by A. Jarvis, 1891 – The Traders Bank Sole Licensee. Also accepting drafts, and direct wire transfers. We do not accept credit cards directly. No Indonesian Credit Cards Please.
