Manufactured by Kyser & Rex in 1890, this antique Cast Iron Bank is called the Coin Registering Bank and is one of the earliest examples of a Register bank. It measures 7 ¼” tall by 5 ½” wide by 4 deep, and there are two slots at the top; one for dimes and one for nickels. When you place a coin in a slot and turned the red-painted domed roof, the coin would drop into the bank, and it would register the coin-count on a small panel on the front. The mechanics of this bank still work properly, however the roof is a little tight to turn. We kept placing coins into the slots until the door came off, and we found that all of the inside mechanics are original and complete. The paint on this bank is guaranteed to be original with no restorations, although there is some surface wear from years of use. The only problem we have with this bank is that after we got the door open, we cannot figure out how to get it to reattach! If you search online you will find that this 19.
