Embossed date on the bottom 1885, and just look at that paint! One of the very best banks I have ever kept for my own collection. To make it work, you pull the top of the rifle back’till it clicks. Put the coin on the front top of the rifle, and make sure the apple is on the child’s head. Push down on the hunters foot to shoot the coin into the apple and into the bank. The child’s right arm goes up and the coin in then in and safe. To reload, the child’s arm is down, which pulls the apple back on his head. You could put a “cap” into the gun, and it will make a noise as it goes off, but not a good idea. Old iron is to be protected, not tested and this bank is over 115 years old.
