“Santa Claus” mechanical bank, designed by Charles Shepard and Peter Adams and patented October 15, 1889. It was manufactured by the Shepard Hardware Co of Buffalo, NY, and. Measures 6″ high x 4 1/2″ long x 3 1/8 wide. It looks to retain 80%+ of its original paint (this version has the light colored coat with red trim), and the mechanism works just as it should: place a coin in Santa’s hand. Push the lever at his right foot, and he tosses the coin into the chimney. It appears that all of the parts are original, and I can find no issues (no cracks, breaks, or other damage; and no repairs).
