The lion opens his mouth and the monkey leans forward and throws the coin therein, causing the smaller monkey to jump up onto the larger monkey’s back. As you will note, the bank is in excellent condition, with no breaks, cracks, or other damage, and no repairs. It retains its original coin trap (these are often missing), as well as the original key. Information from the previous owner indicated some old repaint, though it’s difficult to tell what exactly was repainted, so I’m hoping that the pictures provide sufficient information for prospective buyers to make their own judgment. He spring that is part of the mechanism looks to be newer, but otherwise all of the parts appear original to the piece. As with any piece this old, there are going to be scattered areas of wear and paint loss, and the base plate has surface rust on interior and exterior faces. Nonetheless this handsome bank has stood up very well for a piece this old and it displays beautifully, so don’t miss this opportunity to own this nice example.
