Antique Original J & E Stevens New Creedmoor Cast Iron Mechanical Bank. Measures 7″ tall and 10″ long. Circa 1877 made by J & E Stevens. Nice example of an early American bank that has held up well over the years, and the working mechanism functions and it springs, though sticky, and a penny did go inside the tree. To operate, push back on top section of gun (this snaps in place causing the head of the figure to tilt forward as though taking aim), place a penny on top of the gun, press down on the right foot and coin goes into target on tree. Good condition showing wear/fading to paint; with no visible rust, cracks, breaks or repairs. Please see all photos.
