The Stump Speaker is perhaps the greatest Black Americana mechanical bank ever produced. I inherited this piece from my great-grandfathers collection. He amassed many antiques and collectibles during his life. This original piece (patented June 8, 1886) was designed by Charles Shepard and Peter Adams Jr. And manufactured by Shepard Hardware Company, Buffalo, New York. Condition : This piece is overall in very good condition. There is some paint loss chips and other wear which is consistent with age and use. The back door panel is missing, but coins can still collect into the bank. The bank still works! To operate it place a coin into its hand and press the button on the side of the base. He then drops the coin into his bag. The mouth also moves similar to a bobble head. Size : Height 9.75 inches X Width 5 inches X Length 4 inches.
