WHAT AN AMAZING TREASURE FIND!!! This fantastic Cast Iron Carousel Bank has the Patent date of Feb 2 1875 embossed on the the bottom cast iron plug. Weighs approximately 1 lb 11 ounces. Stands approximately 4.5 inches tall and is about 4 inches wide at the widest part of the carousel. The carousel can turn around on the base, so as to mimic the actual motion of a real carousel. The paint is in EXCELLENT condition and has a lot of color still showing on the outside of this wonderful carousel. There is quite a bit of dust and dirt on the inside of the carousel, but we made minimal effort to clean it, for fear of causing additional paint loss or rust. We attempted to free the bottom plug in order to photograph it better, but it is not going to come off without a fight – and we thought that fighting this precious bank just wasn’t a good idea, but it does have a slot in the plug that a straight screw driver can go into that could free the plug, if someone wanted to do that. THIS IS A FANTASTIC TREASURE! It is so quaint to imagine the child that originally got this as a gift, possibly from their parents or grandparents for Christmas or a birthday, and how it delighted them for years, as they collected their coins inside of it! We know that collectors of all kinds will find this one oh so SWEET!!
