Century Cast Iron Mechanical Bank was produced by the Mechanical Novelty Works Company. Called the “Squirrel and Tree Stump” bank a coin is placed on top of the acorn in the squirrel’s paws, and then the lever at his feet is pressed, which tilts the squirrel forward and deposits the coin into the stump. Measuring 7″ long by 4 ¾” tall and 4 ½ wide, this 19thC Cast Iron Bank is in original unrestored condition, however the bottom plate has been missing for many years. The surface and painting is original and there are no retorations. This rare, authentic 19. Century Squirrel and Tree Stump Bank has been listed without any reserve!
