Stevens cast iron mechanical barking watch bull dog safe bank that includes working combination dials and working features. Back lower edge is marked Pat. This is a very sound unit with no broken parts or chips, neat features with the dog and its moving mouth, not sure if a bulldog or dalmatian, birds and figural heads that look Greek, the only part that I know of which is missing is the handle or lever that would be where the small screw is that attaches to the wood of the bellow. This really does look very good overall and all functions in working order. Only repair is the bellows that has some glue where material was cracked. Bank measures just shy of 6″ tall, 4.5″ wide and 4 front to back. The bank has a working combination, 2 1 7, a coin is set into slot at top, then push the lever on right side upwards which lets the coin drop, and also pushes a lever inside onto the bellows to make a sound or squeak, and it also makes the dog’s mouth move, which works. The sound works a little, the material on the bellows is very old and has a few spots of lazer bond glue that sealed the air leaks and lets it work some yet. This bellow can probably be replaced with some work, just need to get the little squeaker part out from inside. All the levers and actions inside are in very good shape and move freely, the lever for holding the bellows is replaced with a small screw that works fine, main handle is sound, door hinges are good and molded wheels are in good shape. Top features the bird nest, each side has what looks like a Greek figure with bird on the head, there is some original colors showing but has obvious wear and ageing, appears to be old label or tape removal spots like on front and bottom side where someone might have been scuffing to hard, yet this remains a fine looking bank loaded with nice quality and excellent display!! What you pay is what shows as value, and please do not ask to lower this as stating correct value is a Federal Law.
