Very Nice 1885 Cast Iron Speaking Dog Mechanical Bank By Shepard Hardware Co
“Speaking Dog” mechanical bank, patented July 14 and October 20, 1885 by Charles Shepard and Peter Adams, and manufactured in the late 1880’s and early 1890’s by the Shepard Hardware Co beginning in 1892, the bank was manufactured by the J. Who used their patented round coin trap. The bank measures 7 1/4″ high x 7 1/4″ wide x 3 deep and is in great condition, retaining nearly all of its original paint though there may be some very early repaint on girls socks and bow, and on the dog’s feet? The bank has no cracks, breaks, or other damage, no repairs, and no rust. Please review pictures as they are illustrative of the bank’s condition. If you’re a collector of mechanical banks, take advantage of the opportunity to own this very, very nice and very very early example of this one.
