I ALWAYS DID’SPISE A MULE Mechanical Bank Cast Iron Antique c1890’s
For sale tonight is a cast iron antique mechanical bank called the “I ALWAYS DID’SPISE A MULE-Boy On Bench”. It was manufactured by the J. Circa 1897 and was designed by James Bowen. There are no cracks or breaks and still retains much of the original paint. To operate, a coin is placed underneath the bench where the boy sits. Press the lever and the mule kicks up, spins around and knocks the boy over on the bench. This causes the coin to be deposited in the bank. The action is fast and realistic. The bank is approximately 10″ long, 2 3/4″ wide and 6 high. It works properly and has the coin plug.
