ANTIQUE RARE SHEPARD HARDWARE UNCLE SAM CAST IRON BANK PAT. Original cast iron Uncle Sam. Mechanical Bank, with moving arm, jaw and bag. Produced by Shepard Hardware & Co. Of Buffalo, New York in the late, 19th century, the base is marked PAT. The Uncle Sam figure is standing on a pedestal. With a bag marked U. Place a coin in his hand and press the button. The Bag Opens and Uncle Sam deposits the coin in the bag. The front panel of the pedestal has an American Eagle with a banner and the words Uncle Sam. Each side of the pedestal has the word BANK in relief. This old bank stands 11½ tall, it is remarkable, works well, it does show paint loss as expected from a bank that is over a hundred years old.
