ANTIQUE STEVENS CAST IRON OWL MECHANICAL COIN BANK GLASS EYES Circa 1880
Here for your consideration is an antique cast iron J&E Stevens cast iron mechanical bank, stamped PAT SEPT 21&28 1880. From the Edwin H. Mosler Collection you will receive the Mosler Collection I. The mechanical operations of this bank work nicely. All remaining paint is original. Paint is flaking in some areas. Beware sellers offering these pieces with perfect or mostly intact paint as they are most likely repaints from the mid century. To operate place a coin to the right of the owls head, lever located in the rear is pressed down, head turns about 25 degrees and the coin is deposited. Very nice glass eyes with some build up at the edges. Loss of paint consistent with age and use. Missing bottom iron closer. Measures 7.5 inches in height by 4 1/8 inches wide by 3 1/4 inches deep (from base). Please review the photos carefully as they are an important part of the description and ask questions.
