As you will note, the bank is in very fine condition, retaining most all of its original paint (between 80% and 90%), and the colors are vibrant and bright. The bank operates thusly: place a coin in the jockey’s mouth, depress the button at the rear foot of the mule, and the mule kicks back it’s rear legs and tips forward, throwing the rider over its head and causing the coin to be thrown into the receptacle. He piece shows no repairs, and no cracks, breaks, or other damage, and it has stood up very well for a bank that is over 130 years old. Small piece of wire missing. That connects the bridle to the mechanism under the mule. (it checks the jockey and keeps him from hitting his head on the log), but it would be easy to replace. The original Stevens coin trap was replaced with a later casting.
