Halls Excelsior Mechanical Building Bank By J & E Stevens Circa 1869 Cast Iron
This is an Original Cast Iron Halls Excelsior Mechanical Bank designed by John Hall of Watertown, Massachusetts and manufactured by the J & E Stevens Company of Cromwell, Connecticut. The coin deposit system is operated by gravity. Pulling the white knob on the front door opens the roof and displays the cashier. Once the roof is open, place a coin on the cashier’s desk. The weight of the coin will cause the top to close and deposit the coin. The roof of the bank is stamped PAT DEC 21 1869. Measurements: 5 1/8 inches high, 4 inches wide and 3 ¾ inches deep.
