Flatiron Bank Building 8.25 inches tall cast iron bank
Shaped in the form of one of New Yorks most famous buildings, the bank resembles the famous 22-story Flatiron Building, which was designed by Daniel Burnham in 1902 and stands on lower Fifth Avenue in New York City. It was made by Kenton Hardware Company in Kenton, Ohio, which was in business from 1890 to 1950. They were given away at the bank back in the early 1900s. This particular bank is rare due to it’s size; it measures 8.25 inches tall and has never been cleaned nor painted. It has the words Flatiron Building Bank cast along the base’s three sides. It is in very good condition considering its age of over 100 years and use over those years as a coin bank. The bottom “trap” is missing as is more often than not the case in such older vintage banks. You will find some of these online for sale but not one this large size! Also, some are copies and do not have the words Flatiron Building Bank on their bases. This is the real deal!
