RARE HINDU WITH TURBAN Cast Iron Mechanical Bank KYSER & REX. 1882 Uncle Tom
It was patented January 24, 1882 by Louis Kyser and Alfred Rex of Philadelphia, Pa. It was manufactured by the Kyser & Rex Manufacturing Co. The “Hindu Bank” was made utilizing the pattern of the “Uncle Tom” bank without coat lapels, the turban and fez being added to the pattern with other minor changes. The “Uncle Tom” was made before the Hindu as the sketch of the bank in the patent papers does not show any kind of hat or head gear. This bank has been in our family since new. As it creeps most of us out we have decided to let it go. I have tried to take as many pictures as possible. This appears to be an original paint scheme. Everything is operational and it even comes with the original key. Please see pictures for more detail.
