Original J&e Stevens Cast Iron Spise A Mule Mechanical Bank Exceptional Paint
Here for your consideration is an iconic cast iron “I Always Did Spise A Mule” original mechanical bank in outstanding paint offered at NO RESERVE. One of the most popular banks produced by the estimable J&E Stevens company of Cromwell Connecticut this bank was patented on April 22, 1879. This example has truly exceptional color and gloss and the action is dramatic: When the mule and boy are brought into position, a slight touch on the knob at the base causes the mule to turn around and kick the boy over, throwing the coin from the bench into the receptacle below. The mule and boy both lock into place nicely, and the action is swift when the knob is pressed. Please note: there is a tight hairline crack across the boy’s belly (clearly shown in the photograph). The bank works perfectly and displays beautifully. This is a great chance for you to add a stunning visual example of the Spise a Mule (bench) bank to your collection.
