J. E. Stevens Safe Lock No. 50 Pat Aug. 24, 1897 Nickel Plate Cast Iron Bank Key
STEVENS SAFE LOCK NO. 24, 1897 CAST IRON BANK WITH KEY. GREAT COLLECTIBLE ORIGINAL NICKEL PLATED SAFE BANK #50 BY J. PATENT DATE 1897 AND FULL DESCRIPTION OF THE BANK AND COMPANY IN ARCHED RAISED LETTERING ON THE BOTTOM. KEY IS ORIGINAL AND UNLOCKS BY TURNING 1/4 ROTATION COUNTERCLOCKWISE AND SOMETIMES TAKES A LITTLE WIGGLE TO OPEN. BANK HAS GOOD LOCKING MECHANISM AND SNAPS SHUT WITHOUT THE KEY. I WONDER HOW MANY KIDS LOCKED THE KEY INSIDE? THE BANK IS HELD TOGETHER BY A TURN PIN WHICH IS SEEN ON THE BOTTOM AND BANK CAN BE TAKEN APART EASILY. I HAVE NEVER TAKEN IT APART. THESE COME APART EASIER THAN THEY GO BACK SO DON’T LOCK THE KEY INSIDE. GREAT DECORATIVE DESIGN AND GREAT PATINA. VERY FINE CASTING FROM AN ERA WHERE CAST IRON WAS AN ART AND A MATTER OF HIGH CRAFTSMANSHIP AND PRIDE. KEY LOCK SAFE NO 50. THE J&E STEVENS COCROMWELL CONN. 4 1/8″ TALL X 3 1/8″ WIDE X 2 11/16 DEEP. 2 3/8 LONG KEY. VERY NICE, SOME LOSS TO NICKEL FINISH. The item “J. E.
