General George Washington Cast Iron Centennial Change Bank Circa 1876
General George Washington Cast Iron. American Centennial Change Bank. Would make a great gift for a special occasion or keep for yourself! Nice antique bank of George Washington here. Shows him standing with his right hand outstretched. In his left hand is s sword in scabbard and what is probably meant to be the American Flag. The piece has an old tag with it where the ink has browned. The bank is made of cast iron. Appears to be the original paint on the piece. Gold epaulettes on his coat and the sword/scabbard. George has a blue coat, red vest, white pants and black boots. The base is black. Certainly some paint loss to the piece as you can observe in the pictures provided. A slot in the back of the piece just below George’s shoulders to drop change into the bank. There are no makers marks or county of origination noted on the piece that we can ascertain. Some rust and corrosion along the bottom of the piece. Took the bank apart by the center screw. Dirty and some rust/corrosion on the inside. The George Washington Centennial Bank is 6.5″ tall, by 3-3/8″ across, by 1-15/16 wide. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
