Vintage metal coin bank 1920's Grey Iron Casting Company COIN DEPOSIT BANK #12
Vintage metal coin bank1920’s Grey Iron Casting Company COIN DEPOSIT BANK #12. There is 2 castings ofthis Bank the first one was cast in 1912 to 1915 original casting was #10 laterin the 1920’s the second castings was cast and #12 was made. This bank is the#12. This bank has a domed topwith 2 angles and some Victorian styling designs on the side of them, it hasthe Coin drop/ finger holder up top as well. Sides are blanks as well as theback, the bottom has a perforated bottom. The front has the design andcombination that was originally a gold color. It is all held together by a longflat head screw that is at the top and threaded to the bottom were a square nutsitting in side of outline impressed square which once threaded is what holdseverything together. This piece is very well made and will continue the test oftime. Bank has a combinationstyle lock in which had a nob/dial in the center and a scroll plate in whichthe nob dial is turned to allow access inside the safe, the locking mechanismsdo work when the nob is turned but the longer part of the lock that would gobehind side wall of the safe in order to lock it has been broke at some pointand time in its life. Not uncommon with safe’s and locks but still a bummer. Time has taken some life from this near 100 year old safe, there is some earlyrusting and a patina on this product but this is what gives the natural stateof vintage and shows it age of the item. There is also a small dent on the backas well. Door opens and closes and this safe is made to come apart I did not disturbany of the natural look on this item for the exception of wiping off the dustfrom time to time. I have seen these safes and safes like it go for 500 to a1000 dollars at auctions, I do not try and make a year’s wages on each of myitems I go for a 20% mark up on most of my items and leave it at that. Dims on Bank are 5 3/4 inches tall, 4 1/16 inches wide, 3 1/2 inches in depth and about 2 pounds. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Banks, Registers & Vending\Still, Piggy Banks\Other Collectible Still Banks”. The seller is “jash_904097″ and is located in this country: US.
