ORIGINAL Vintage Antique Johnny Griffin 2 Face Cast Iron Bank By A. C Williams Co
I believe that this is a vintage Johnny Griffin cast iron bank made in the early 1900’s, Some people call it a two faced dime bank because it has the same face of a young black boy with a torn hat on both sides of the bank. From doing some research I think that this bank was made by A. This bank is in great condition for it’s age. It has some light rust on one face and the paint is worn off in some areas but since it is cast iron it is pretty indestructible. The little screw is in place that holds the two halves together so you can open it up to remove the coins and the top has a slot to put the coins in. The paint can easily be restored to this piece if you prefer it to be painted The boy depicted on this piece has been used on a variety of pieces and is referenced as the “Young Black boy with the Torn Hat” or “Johnny Griffin” in various auctions. Use as a bank, a paper weight or both! This item is in the category “Collectibles\Banks, Registers & Vending\Still, Piggy Banks\Other Collectible Still Banks”.
