History about the bank. The Speaking Dog bank’ was first manufactured by Shepard hardware Co. Took over the Shepard line of banks and produced it under their name. The Shepard version has the distinctive rectangular coin trap and the Stevens verion has the their round trap. The bank was based on patent no. 328, 723 issued to Charles G.
