A Divine Estate Sale Find. From my research this item appears to be an Amazing and RARE FIND… Prudential Registering Bank Nickle Patented Feb 25 1890 Heavy Metal +5lbs c1890 – PREOWNED!! Step back into the past and HOLD A PIECE OF HISTORY!! This amazing and rare item was patented on Feb 25, 1890, just as it states proudly embossed on bank’s front side. This bank appears to be made of some sort of nickel- plated cast iron(unconfirmed). Overall finish appears original as there is even a partial instructions/label still adhered to the back of this piece. All parts appear original to this bank as well which is quite rare in and of itself. To my knowledge, the bank is not in working order…. Both mechanisms on the front (two handles) move a bit but do not cause any mechanical workings to function. I do not know if inside parts can be repaired.. I have tried to add a coin to this bank to see if anything counts or registers the coin value and nothing happens… I actually had to shake the bank to get the coin to come back out of the top slot as it did not fall all the way thru the bank… !! Does this mean there is a treasury of old coins hidden inside this bank… Perhaps the new owner will be able to crack that legend… I will leave things “as is”…. And coin treasure or no coin treasure… This BANK IS A TREASURE… The trap door also is off its mount… Meaning it does NOT stay in tack when positioned in its place. The side lever does not presently hold the door in place either.. I have not tried to work the problem at all and will leave theses mysteries up to its new and rightful owner. The loose door is THE only part that is loose and not attached to the bank to my knowledge…. But i have no way to know if all parts inside are intact… Unsolved mysteries to be researched and resolved by new and proud owner of this FAB piece! Dimensions are approx 5 5/16″ wide x 3 1/8″ deep x 7 1/4 high. As this heavy metal beauty weighs in at approx 5lbs 4oz without packing materials! There is a partial original label adhered to the back side surface of this piece that is somewhat legible as well… This unique piece is an antique and will show age-appropriate signs including but not limited to superficial surface marks and spots of surface patina. PLEASE USE ALL PHOTOS when determining the overall assessment of this piece of AMERICAN HISTORY! Be the proudest BANK ROBBER in history when YOU STEAL this piece of AMERICANA quickly as there are not many of them out there!! Makes an unmatchable gift to that collector…. And present overall status of this iconic piece! Please use ALL photos for final condition determination. I will do my very best to answer with the limited knowledge i have specific to this item. ALL OFFERS WILL BE CONSIDERED!
