Vintage Leap-Frog Cast Iron Mechanical Coin Bank Works

Vintage Leap-Frog Cast Iron Mechanical Coin Bank – Works Not sure this is one of the Shepard Hardware Co. Ones or the era of it. Approximate Size: 7 3/8″ long x 3 1/2″ wide x 5 tall. Has “Leap-Frog Bank” itched on it. The Bank features two boys playing leap frog. The standing boy jumps over the stooping boy when the mechanism is activated causing a lever on the front of the tree trunk to be pushed and thus causing the coin to fall into the stump. To operate the bank the figure of the leaping boy is placed in position behind the figure of the boy in the stooping position. A coin is then placed in the provided slot in the top of the tree trunk where it stays in place. A lever in the rear of the bank is then moved to the side and the boy in the standing position leaps over the other boy, and in so doing depresses a lever on the tree trunk with his right hand which causes the coin to drop automatically into the bank. The bank is reset by hand as described for subsequent operation. Missing Coin Trap Door. Most of paint has worn off & rust starting. Has a pad strip on bottom. The yellow on the back fence is very very faded, but can tell it was yellow. Can see some of the original paint on the boys caps & clothing, again very very faded. Any questions, please ask.
