THIS EXCEPTIONAL BANK IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO DAMAGE OR RESTORATION. BANK HAS GREAT ORIGINAL PAINT WITH NICE PATINA. THE BASE IS MARKED “PAT JULY 15, 1890″. MEASURES 5 1/4″ HIGH, 10 1/4″ WIDE AND 3 3/4 DEEP. WEIGHS 5.4 POUNDS. This bank was produced by the Shepard Hardware Co. In Buffalo New York and patented on 7-15-1890 by Peter Adams. The bank has great action as follows: place a coin on the platform above Jonah’s head and shoulders and press the lever; the man tosses Jonah forward as the whale opens his mouth as if to swallow him. The coin slides off Jonah’s head and into the whale’s mouth as Jonah stays in the boat. Release the lever and the whale’s mouth is set into an up and down motion that lasts for a few seconds.
