Cast Iron TRICK PONY Mechanical Bank Original Antique Americana Toy
The bank is being listed with no reserve. This is the “TRICK PONY” Mechanical Bank manufactured by the Shepard Hardware Co. The bank was patented July 7, 1885 by Charles Shepard and Peter Adams. The carousel was a true enjoyment to the children of that era and Shepard Hardware, recognizing this fact, used this theme for one of their most popular banks. There are no cracks, breaks or other damage. The bank is in. And still retains much of its original paint. Few banks display better on the mantle than the Trick Pony. The gold gilding on the base is particularly strong. The last picture is from Ridley’s Magazine in the winter of 1892. To operate, a coin is placed in the mouth of the pony and the operating lever is pulled. In doing so, the pony lowers his head dropping the coin into the trough. The bottom plate inside the trough drops down allowing the coin to drop inside the base section. On releasing the lever the parts automatically return to their original position. The bank is in proper working order and has the rectangular Shepard Hardware Co. The key is included. The size is approximately 7 1/2″ long, 2 1/2″ wide and 8 high. Make this wonderful bank a part of your collection. The item “Cast Iron TRICK PONY Mechanical Bank Original Antique Americana Toy” is in sale since Saturday, May 14, 2016.
