Vintage Cast Iron Hubley Still Bank Duck in Top Hat On Red Tub Original Paint
For Your Penny Bank Collection – DuckBank1. Description: A beautiful vintage cast iron still penny bank. It is cast in the form of a duck wearing a top hat, holding an umbrella under his arm and standing on top of a red tub. The umbrella has a red handle and the tub has the words “SAVE FOR A RAINY DAY” in raised letters on the side. The duck is painted in an off-white colors with the top hat the umbrella in black. The bank is made of two halves held together with a screw. We opened the bank and it was unmarked on the inside as it is on the outside (see the last photo). We believe the bank is all original including the paint and the screw. It is very well cast and shows nice details of the feathers, the umbrella, the head with the eyes and bill, and the duck’s feet. This bank was made by Hubley in the period 1930 through 1938. See page 1 (bank 616) of Andy and Susan Moore’s book “The Penny Bank Book; Collecting Still Banks” Published by Schiffer Books, of Exton, PA in 1984 for a similar example. The bank has the coin slot on top of the Duck’s back near the tail. Please carefully review the Photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: 1930 – 1938.
