Original 1890 Shepard Hardware Jonah and the Whale Cast Iron Mechanical Bank
Measures 10¼” long x 3½” wide x 5¼ tall. Mechanical bank that was made in the 1890s by the Shepard Hardware Co. Originally patented July 15, 1890 by Peter Adams. Coin trap is not present. To operate the bank, a coin is placed on Jonah’s back, then the lever, located on one end of the bank, is pressed. Jonah moves forward, tilts down, and the coin goes into the whale’s mouth. BANK HAS BEEN REPAINTED AT SOME POINT IN ITS LIFE.
