Rare ANTIQUE Cast Iron HUBLEY Grace Drayton’s PUPPO Boston Terrier ON PILLOW BEE
ANTIQUE Cast Iron HUBLEY. Metal DOG BANK of Grace Drayton’s Character BOSTON TERRIER Puppy PUPPO. In the height of her career in the early 1910’s she was producing “Toodles”, “Dolly Dimple” and the “Campbell Soup Kids”. Puppo was first produced with her comic of “Kaptin Kiddo and Puppo” in 1911 and the Hubley Company started production of PUPPO in 1914. This is a brightly colored version where PUPPO is sitting on his blue pillow with the cutest GOOGLY EYES looking at a BEE on his back. His breed is a BOSTON TERRIER. Cold painted black and white for his coat. Black eyes showing black iris with white pupils. Two red lines for his mouth. Pink bow and collar. Baby blue/ Light blue pillow with a dark blue cording. Great detail with all the creases in the face/ forehead and in the pillow. It is in excellent condition considering the age. You can see so much of the color is intact with some staining and dings. Please see pictures for better descriptions. 5.5 tall (at the head). 5.5 long (pillow). 5.25 wide (pillow). The dogs are a variety of breeds, sizes and metals. Most are unknown makers, but the banks and this doorstop are HUBLEY. These are some of my best dogs.
