J & E Stevens Professor Pugs Frog’s Bicycle Feat Cast Iron Mechanical Bank
Made by the J. Stevens Company; Cromwell, Connecticut; Circa 1886. Set the high-wheeled bicycle in place. Place a coin behind the bicycle’s rear wheel and turn the crank. Press the activating lever and the frog on his bicycle will flip over, depositing the coin into the bank. One of the most animated of all mechanical banks! This one is in excellent condition see photos! Not a reproduction and all original! The bank’s wheel winds and works perfectly! The bank still retains most of it’s original paint. This bank is noted for it’s many moving parts. Even the tongue on the lady reading the Mother Goose book moves! A coin is placed on the back wheel of the bike and then flips around into the basket. A great looking piece! Would make an excellent addition to any collection! Other than the top few banks, there are no two specimens more desirable to have in a collection than Professor Pug Frog and The Girl Skipping Rope.
