Condition and the paint is still bright. The gold gilding on the bank’s name and the paint on the soldier are both especially strong. The Artillery Bank was patented May 31, 1892. On the underside of the base plate of the base in the section beneath the soldier is inscribed Pat. This bank is the “Confederate” painted type soldier with red shirt and gray pants. The Confederate version is extremely difficult to find and is a very sought after mechanical bank. There is also a “Union” soldier variation; however, the Confederate soldier is much.
