Rare Antique 1890s J&E Stevens Watch Dog Safe Mechanical Cast Iron Bank
Circa 1890s, this larger than average coin bank features a coin slot on the top with a lever. The toy was originally designed to make a barking noise when the lever is pulled and the dog’s mouth opens. When the lever is released, the dog then closes his mouth. The safe itself is adorned with raised Romans, elegant trim patterns, and a 3-digit combination safe with code 721. This rare coin bank is all original! This Watch Dog Safe is in good condition for its age, showing about 60% original paint. The door is missing the bellows that makes the barking noise , but the lever, dog’s mouth, and combination lock are working properly. No major cracks or pits are seen across the cast iron. Absolutely stunning display piece. Measures about 6″ H x 4-1/2″ W x 4-1/4 D. Our High Resolution Photographs are taken for your review and inspection of the item in detail.
