Antique Coin Bank/Very Nice 1882 Cast Iron Villa (Church) by Kyser and Rex
It was manufactured in the U. By Kyser & Rex with a patent date on the rear of 1882. It also look like this date is also over the door of the church. The bank base measures 3 x 4-inches in size and it stands 5.5-inches in height. The coin slot it on the roof. This bank has a somewhat complex locking mechanism. You twist the chimney 90-degress which is attached to a shaft that protrudes through the bottom. When you lift out the chimney the roof lifts up, but the roof also holds the sides in place, so they come apart as well. Consequently, you need three hands to lock it back up. The bank weighs 24.4 ounces. This bank is in excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks, or dents in the metal surfaces. The only wear is loss of the red paint to the chimney and the gold paint on the highlights of the church. A rare bank in very collectible condition!
