C1900’s Keyless Safety Deposit Cast Iron Bank @ Post Office Door @ Mail Box Safe
Attention Collectors: Check out my other listings. Note: Working combination, for the lock, will be provided. This Bank was made by the Keyless Lock Company, Circa late 1800’s – early 1900’s, and will be a beautiful addition to your collection. The bank is made from cast iron, and is approximately 4-3/8 ” Wide x 5-3/8″ High x 3-7/8 Deep (not including combination dials). It is very ornate, and has designs on the front, top, and both sides. On the bottom it has the following information: M’F’D BY THE KEYLESS LOCK CO. ” On the front of the bank: “THE KEYLESS SAFETY DEPOSIT. The bank has been professionally cleaned, polished, and clear coated. The beauty & craftsmanship of the casting is easily seen through the clear protective coat. Bank has a rear coin slot. Bank has been modified to eliminate the rear feet. I don’t know if this was a factory modification, or done by a previous owner. Either way, it was completed professionally. Without the rear feet, the bank tilts slightly to the rear which looks very nice when displayed. The locking mechanism is very similar to the locking mechanism used on Keyless Post Office Doors from the 1880’s. This might be one of the first banks made using Post Office Door parts. This idea later developed into the wood banks made by many Craftsman across the USA today utilizing Post Office Doors. This is the bank you will receive.
