1890s J&E Stevens Watch Dog Safe Mechanical Cast Iron Bank. Antique J & E Stevens Watch Dog Safe Cast Iron Bank. Circa 1890s, features a coin slot on the top with a lever. The toy was originally designed to make a barking noise when the lever is pulled and the dog’s mouth opens. It appears that the bellows has been replaced. When the lever is released, the dog then closes his mouth. The safe itself is adorned with raised Romans, elegant trim patterns, and a 3-digit combination safe with code 217. This rare coin bank is all original! Good condition for its age. The baseplate has a 1 3/8 crack in the plate. Please view photo’s.. Howing about 80% original paint. And combination lock are working properly. No other cracks or brakes are seen across the cast iron. Absolutely stunning display piece. Measures about 6″ H x 4-1/2″ W x 4-1/4 D.
