J E Stevens Mechanical Bank Cast Iron 100% Original Dark Town Battery See Pics
STEVENS CAST IRON “DARKTOWN BATTERY” BASEBALL MECHANICAL BANK – ORIGINAL. J&E Stevens started in 1843 way before the Civil War in Cromwell, Connecticut. Condition: The batters bat is broken off a piece off as seen from the pics. Also the coin trap door is all original but it came out but thats not a big deal as they frequently do and its an easy repair. The pitchers arm does not stay locked. It will move back & forth and the batter swings his arm up swinging lifting the bat up which was meant to do so as the coin would fly from the pitchers arm through the air into the catchers mitt with the batting missing and the coin depositing into the bank. The bank still has its original color and everything of that nature. Made by the J. Stevens company in 1888. This is easily one of the rarest, most desirable, & complex mechanical bank toys produced ever especially for its time. This bank is for serious collectors of antiques is not a toy for young kids. These are extremely rare, fragile, & valuable. This bank is 140 Years Old!!!
