The banks are being listed with no reserve and a reasonable starting price. The owner of the banks has reluctantly decided to part with much of his collection and continues that tonight. This is the “ZOO BANK” Mechanical Bank manufactured by the Kyser & Rex Co. There are no cracks, breaks or other damage. The bank is in. Condition and although one of the smaller mechanical banks it has excellent action. The last picture is from an early catalogue showing various banks. To prepare the bank for operation the shutters need to be closed one at a time. This causes the faces of the bear and lion to recede into the bank. At the same time the face of the monkey moves forward into the window of the cupola. To operate, a coin is placed in the slot in the roof of the cupola. The face of the monkey is then pressed. This causes the bear and lion to move forward and the shutters fly open exposing their faces. At the same time the coin drops into the bank. The bank is in proper working order and has a key lock coin trap. Age and father time has made it difficult to put the trap back in, so I would suggest leaving it in place and emptying the bank through the cupola. The key is included. The bank is approximately 4 1/4″ long, 4 1/4″ high and 1 1/2 deep.
