Stevens cast iron “William Tell” mechanical bank. This is not a reproduction. Stevens Company was located in Cromwell, CT. The patent date of June 23, 1896 is embossed on the bottom of the bank. This bank is fully functional and is about 119 years old! It measures 10-1/2″ long and about 6-1/2″ tall. A nice example of 19th Century American craftsmanship. To Operate : Pull the top of the rifle back until it clicks or cocks. Put the coin (pennies do best) on the front top of the rifle. Rotate the little boys arm until the apple appears on his head. Press down William Tells’ foot… The gun will fire the penny into the tower… And in the process it will knock the apple off the little boy’s head and a bell will ding. There is some wear to the paint but it is in very good condition for its age. The mechanisms work and it has no breaks or cracks.
