Description and Condition: This is an original 1883 J&E Stevens Eagle and Eaglets working mechanical bank. It has had a minor repair, as seen in the pictures. The repair is between the front legs of the eagle and can be seen in photo #5. The original paint has also faded away except for some spots, also seen in the pictures. The bank works by placing a coin the mother eagles beak. When the lever in the back is pressed down, she bends drops the coin into the nest, depositing it into the bank. This bank has the original glass eyes and they are not cracked that I can see. Measurement: 6 1/4″ tall x 8″ long x 4 wide. Marked: PAT JAN 23 1883; patd on the coin door on bottom. Weight: 2# 10 oz.
