This is the ONLY cast iron bank ever in my collection that was made in Japan! But it is a FIRE ALARM BOX and being a fire buff, it just had to be kept! It was made in Japan in either the 1930’s or the 1950’s, but NOT in the 1940’s because of WWII. Unless in the very late 1940’s maybe! Cast iron made by the DABS Company. That number on the back doesn’t help date it, and neither do the numbers on the lower front! The iron feels like 1950’s to me, but maybe you know? Heavy and neat and it looks great on a shelf with old fire wagons & fire trucks. It also hangs on the wall, as you can see by that hole on the back. To put a coin in, you have to PULL the ALARM, and that is shown in on of the many photos. It is 4 1/8″ tall X 2 1/4″ wide and a bit more than 1 1/2 front to back. The paint is original and you can even see the “Dabs” sticker on the lower back. That’s only fair, and all sellers should do it, but they don’t!
