“Teddy and the Bear” mechanical bank, designed by Chas. Bailey and patented in 1907. It was manufactured by the J. Stevens Co of Cromwell, Conn. Measures 7 3/8″ high x 3″ wide x 10 1/4 long. It retains most all of its original painted finishes, and it displays beautifully (I would grade it as excellent, at 90% paint). The mechanism works smoothly and as it should: place a coin in the sliding piece at the top of the barrel, push the button behind the Teddy figure, and Teddy lowers his head and shoots the coin into the stump, causing the bear to pop out the top. To reset, pull back the slide into original position and push the bear back down into the stump. This is a hard to find mechanical bank and this one is original, complete, with no issues no cracks, chips, breaks or other damage, and no repairs.
