Antique 1892 Cast Iron Beehive Mechanical Bank “Economy Accumulates Wealth” RARE. This bank was made for the Branch of Peoples Savings and Loan Association. Its shaped like a beehive on the top. Each of the three sides has one of the three words: ECONOMY, ACCUMULATES, WEALTH. The front of the bank has the words Branch of People’s Savings & Loan Association. The “n” in association has a tiny nick in the top – very minor. Under that on the base is the date Pat’d Mar. 1.92″ The beehive portion at the top has a coin slot with the word “BANK next to it. The beehive sits atop a square box and rotates the entire 360 degrees. Each corner is marked 1-4 and when you turn the beehive portion to the numbered corner, it allows you to drop coins into the slot/area for that section. The bank measures 6 3/4″ x 6 3/4″ x 6 3/4. Just below the number 2 corner is a small piece of cast iron missing (not bad) see the photos. The rest of the bank is intact. The hole in the front is used to open the bank with a special long narrow key – but that is not included. All-in-all, this is a very old cast iron bank from 1892 in very good condition. It weighs a whopping 6 pounds. Items will be very carefully wrapped and packaged. All items are from a smoke-free / pet-free home.
